The Beginning of a Street Rod Truck

In a previous post, we talked about the difference in a Hot Rod and a Street Rod. As Street Rod builders in NC, we love both, but our passion lies with Street Rods. To take a look back at our explanation of a Street Rod, visit back, here.

Today, we are going to focus on a new project that our Street Rod builders in NC started a couple of weeks ago.

Street Rod Builders NC: The Beginning!

Custom Works by Michael has begun work on a complete Street Rod build of a 1940 Ford Panel Truck.  This Truck is owned by Doug and Lilay Young of Bakersville NC.  The couple will pull this Street Rod behind their Motor Home on extended trips.  Retirement plans will be much more fun and adventurous with this Street Rod to drive.  The paint scheme will follow that of the Motor Home using black, creams and tans as the base colors. The interior will also follow suit with buttery soft tan leathers.

This Panel Truck came to us with a complete Fat Man Chassis and the body was frame-off  Custom Works then put the body back on frame, placed in a 302 fuel injected engine, along with an electronic transmission and chassis to begin a mock-up build.

Next steps will be to place the front and rear doors. We will also install Bear Claw Latches on the front and rear of the car’s doors.  For great appearance and unsurpassed strength, nothing beats Bear Claw Latches. The dual claws and extra-large striker-bolts give Bear Claws awesome gripping strength and rugged good looks.

Each Bear Claw latch features an all-steel mechanism and a lifetime guarantee. Besides being the strongest, tightest latches on the market.  Bear Claw Latches are perfect for doors with shaved handles because of their lever-action triggers, 3-stage latching system, and 5-Coil steel springs, which allow Bear Claw latches to generate over an inch of throw on many types of doors. All Bear Claw latches come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.  These hidden Latches are recommended by our Street Rod Builders in NC, as the best and safest available for a Street Rod application.

This build is scheduled to be complete in the late summer with its maiden voyage sometime in September 2014.
